Why can't cows and/or camels be fetched and milked?
You could do it the same way dogs are fetched and trained at the kennels, or stray cats are fetched and bu-- um, euthanized at the butcher's workshop.

No, all milk is white.
However, male cows and camels will of course produce manlier milk.
Dwarves are more than manly enough to drink that manly milk.

Now I know why Toady has not implemented this. He knew that there would be several forts using semen as their staple crop and he feels too much kinship to the dwarves to do that to them. Let them be slaughtered mercilessly, burned to a crisp tortured by goblins, but let them not be humiliated to the point of becoming the most disturbing YouTube video in existence. Urist cancels drink semen: killed by bears? Lucky Urist. You know it's stored in barrels, right? Large barrels.

Sweet Armok make sure that milking is NEVER implemented.

The thing is, the dwarf has to literally pick up the creature, into their hands.

When taking an animal somewhere, the dwarf just leads them there, and the animal follows them. This is a bit obvious when training them as the dwarf will sit at the kennel and wait for the animal to come to them, and the animal will often wander off once or twice mid-attempt before sitting still and being trained.

I'm sure this is a function that Toady plans to fix, I just don't feel like combing the dev pages for the entry (speaking of, is there a search feature for that? Should I just use a domain-restricted google search?)

there is a feature.. go to the big long page.. hit ctrl+f and type in your key phrase then enter.. f3 will search for next instance as well..
