Yeh.  Broaden it to the younger crowd who wouldn't be playing that much anyways, and broaden away from the predominantly teenaged gamer crowd.

And flexibility in making your own creature can indeed get you away from at least most of the cuteness.  You still have to deal with a computer-populated world full of critters you didn't design.

EDIT:  Oooh that was mean.  I went to the site and in huge letters was "DOWNLOAD THE CREATURE CREATOR!"  It's such a great thing that my subconscious suspended disbelief for just long enough to find out it the button was there preemptively.

I have the specs.  I wonder, I have an 8500GT.  Is that the same as an 8500 for compatability?  Or are all Nvidia cards GT?

Also, the Sporepedia's up, but it's screwed up pretty badly right now.

Lol that is one massive forehead, kinda reminds me of that little blue man off of the mighty boosh if anyone has seen that. Also i don't mind paying for spore because the money still goes to maxis, it just so happens to feed the EA leach at the same time and i probabley won't buy the CC seeing as the demo would most likly entertain me for ages.

The screenshots are good enough that you can see all of the mouthparts.  There are also four columns, which suggests that since the demo has 25% of the parts, you'll only be able to play with the first column.  Thankfully, the mouths there are nice enough that I'll be able to make a convincing Shoggoth.  Also, check out the Sporepedia.  It's fixed now.  Notice the difference between the creatures created by Maxis and the creatures created by EA employees.  Explains a lot.

EDIT:

On Cuteness:  Look at this bad mofo.  That is by far the best creature I've seen so far.  There are a few nice looking ones on the Sporepedia, too.
