More quest variety.
Definitely
more quest variety.

About the magic: I can imagine using a wizard to create water in a pool. It would be a designation. Or you could let water vanish magically. And military wizarddwarves who can throw fireballs, lightning or something like that.
I just wonder if magic will be learnable or not. I prefer the latter because an army of wizarddwarves just doesn't seem to be right in DF. Maybe, one out of 30 dwarves can even learn magic. And you would get a special announcement if a wizarddwarf is born or comes as an immigrant. Just some random ideas. ^^

BTW: I have an idea on how to make adventure mode more interesting. How about creating a world especially for adventure mode? Not just the world generation, but a combined effort to make it more interesting.
My plan is: Someone makes a thread where we search some people who want to build a fortress, a ruin, a cave or something like that for adventure mode. The more, the better. The first one gets the save and when he or she's done, it gets passed on and on.
The fortresses should not become too populated, so that it's not just another city. They should be interesting, maybe deadly and dwarf-less. I don't know if your dwarves stay in their fortress after abandoning it and going back to it in adventure mode, but you could just kill them.
We don't have to fill the entire world. Maybe just a small, but interesting part of it.
How do you like this idea?

I'm all in, that sounds like a great idea! How well do traps work in adventure mode?

I have no idea, I haven't even played it. :D
But from what I read here in the forums, they are active and will work on your adventurer.

I'm sure, we would need an interesting seed with many underground rivers, magma, chasms and the like. More danger = more losing = more fun!

I want it all. Except for that. And that. Everything else.

I think ethics should only be an effect on those around us. We're evil, people know it, we're good, people know it. Really, what basis is there for the warping of reality around ethics? A real sense that others are aware of what you do has a profound effect, I don't think we'd need more.

Exploration would be nice. By everything, I mean small caves where animals live to sinkholes to simple vistas to hidden conduits of the earth's elements to traps for dark energy to be tapped into by the unethical.

Also, if you're a real scourge, prepare for a manhunt, ambushing you from the travel screen in place of wolves or whatnot. How d'ya feel about difficulty NOW?

Ha well theres actually a mod i've played with the body part Genitals. Pages in the legends screen listed Urist McDwarf slashed off Kutsmob *Nutsfliers* genitals. (real last name and very appropriate for the occasion)

I want to render people infertile.  >:(

Magic _is_ going to be put in the game.

Personally I'm a huge fan of anything that requires management of finances, or tactical combat as opposed to turn-based. I like making decisions and thinking on my feet. Half the reason I play Mount and Blade is because I have to manage gear, finances, food, wages, between battles and try to keep my company of mercenaries afloat etc.

When dwarves want to commit suicide, then by Armok, they _will_ commit suicide, even if they have to spend the rest of their lives working at it!

I agree,... except for the 'thinking on my feet' part. :)

I am HOPELESS at anything 'real-time,' so I much prefer turn-based games. But oddly enough, I enjoy Mount&Blade, too, though I'm really, really bad at the combat.

Still, I always like to manage finances and equipment - the 'management' part of these games. That was always my favorite part of RPG's, too. I especially loved the old party-based games (instead of having just a single character), since there was so much involved with creating a team with complementary abilities, then supplying and equipping them within a tight budget.

Unfortunately, 'mainstream' games are getting away from that sort of thing, trying to appeal to the masses. And since online multi-player is such a big deal these days, almost everyone is going to single-character, real-time games which can fit into a multiplayer format. I much prefer games with more thought involved, so it's a good thing there are still independent game developers around!

I'd just like something that makes it as much fun as world gen looks like it is. There's some other stuff I would like, but not really that important.

I wouldn't want tons of things to manage, I play adventurer to get away from that. I play mount&blade too, but I typically take most of the army out myself and only use troops because I like seeing it rain arrows.
