Technical mistake by Toady? yeah right those darn felines have been plotting how to further catsplosions from inside those tight crammed cages for quite some time now this is no surprise! butcher them all I say!

I imagive the picture: Cat kills vermin. It thinks: "I should dump it!" or "I should bring it to refuse stockpile!", depending on refuse orders. Then it looks at its hands only to realise thait it has none. "@_@ HOLY SHIT! MY ARMS ARE SEVERED!!!" thinks cat and cancels the task which is announced.

Then it decides to do the task anyway using its mouth, but this part isn't fun.

I too have run across this bug.  The fortress was generated in 40d, the cat is adult and named.Logem, isn't that cute?

Dorten: That's a good point. If creatures are currently coded to carry things by hand, the game could indeed be getting freaked out into thinking that the cat is injured because it has none.

Did cats haul around vermin remains in their mouth before this version?  I never noticed it before.

I'm getting this bug too, repeatedly and persistantly.

I think that the cats are deliberately sending false messages so as to fool the user into paying attention to them.

I had my fortress run flawlessly for 4 years before getting this message. It happened immediately after the very first Goblin ambush. None of the cats was injured, as you can see this one is healthy. Elves have attacked us before without this happening.
