They walked down the stairs!

The way further into the dungeon is blocked by a huge slab door. Nearby mining tools and cracks and impact points on the door indicate someone tried to barge in (unsuccessfully).

On the left side of the room, there are two statues of standing warriors. They both stand in a pose as if they were supporting their hands on weapons, but one of the statues is missing its weapon. The other is clutching on a sword.

On the right side of the room, there are two statues of kneeling warriors. They both extend their arms toward the standing warriors in offering pose, but only one of the kneeling warriors have a weapon - a spear. The other is empty-handed.

Hmmm.. : Thinking this could be a logic puzzle, arming the statues. Has plenty on him. But well, chances are the damned things may attack. Stone is much harder to harm than flesh.

Show superiority, Fire a bullet not directed at the statuettes or anyone, see if the Statues react to loud noises

Put the sword on the standing statue in the hands of the kneeling statue

Make sure I’m in a corner and prepare a bullet if any dare move

Sees the pattern is spear and sword. Takes our spear to place in a statues hand. Keeps axe handy due to past experience. That trusty axe has proven to be good luck against spear folk.
