How do I start on Baade then? restarting doesn't seem to give me an option of choosing the galaxy.
You can't. The sign up page says that trying to manipulate the process (by registering several times) is a banable offense. I guess they're trying to load balance  :-\

I tried to play chess but two of my opponents were playing competitive checkers as a third person walked in with Game of Thrones in hand confused cause they thought this was the book club.

Yes, it's an unfortunate hold over from when the game was off-the-walls popular.

I was going to make a joke about how that was last century, but it wasn't. How is a game without graphics from 2007?!
Portal, Bioshock and Assasin's Creed came out that year, and WoW was 3 years old.

Well, it DOES have graphics mind you. Though, for once, I find myself saying the RP is the real draw. Yes, nearly a decade old--but a gem, that wish polish and setting could probably become sparkling.

Well, I just emailed the dev and asked him to transfer me to Baade. Which he promptly did.

I feel I got to the party way too late with this. I never managed to enjoy it because there weren't enough players/those that there were didn't seem to want to interact much, and it's such a shame as it seemed to have such a lot of potential.

I'd be interested if there's a resurgence of some sort though - especially if it involved a strict RP atmosphere.

The same happened to me. Draco has an awesome RP back story (that goes back many years.) Much of is is ensconced over at tvtropes surprisingly. Lotta history.

Yeah I heard amazing things about how good the RP was, and that it had become pretty dramatic over time, but when I played there were only a few people around and certainly not enough interaction to become properly absorbed in it.

Alas, rumours abound of the creator working on a sequel to revive this beauty, but idk anything about that.

I'd definitely go for a sequel - I've always thought there should be more RP based online games like IN. MUDs are great and all, but they're a bit too abstract for most people (and similarly empty), and other similar games to IN that I've played have been very lite on proper RP'ing.

Know any good alternatives?

Battlemaster.org

Back on topic. So where's the rp? What do I do? I'm a bit at a loss right now.

Reaalllllly wasn't a fan of Battlemaster - felt simultaneously too light and as though I'd need to dedicate myself far too much to do anything. It just didn't seem to really click - thanks for the idea though.

As far as IN goes, it's worth just sending a few messages out to locals and seeing who responds. It took me a day or two, but I did get some replies.

((fuck battlemaster, I hate everything about that lineage of games! [sorry!]))

Yes, an updated sequel would be great. Also, treaties are a huge thing in Draco, it would be fun if there was some kind of treaty system. That was always the one ideas I never saw implemented well in games, and IN comes so close, allowing councils and emperors to pass edicts and such--it just isn't formalized.
