I don't the exact word to use.

Like, Luke's cop senses would start to twang if he thought the team was entering a place occupied by street dwellers-he would notice the little signs, the clues of living habitation. Likeways, he would have some knowledge in having to deal with criminals-would know how they think, how they react. Stuff like that.
