More Organisation within Art Symbols
« on: February 12, 2016, 01:38:30 am »

So first I'd like to say that the new symbol-choosing and art commissioning abilities are super-cool and make the game feel much more alive for me in general.

Unfortunately, it's really hard to make certain kinds of commissions. Specifically, I'm having a hard time assigning the likenesses of specific gods to statues because there's no way to find that information without going through the entire list of literally thousands of historical figures. So basically my suggestion is to add in some sub-categories to each broad category so players only have to skim through a list of gods instead of a list of everything that's ever done anything at all noteworthy.

I agree with your point, however have you tried using the filter?

While searching, type part of the deities name and the list will narrow to only include historical figures with that name. I'm sure this will solve your issue as for now.
If you forget the name of the deity, just read through a dwarfs relationships list and you'll find which deities they worship there.

I think setting up a meeting zone and designating it as a temple will be a faster way to get the names of all your deities, but yes, implementing some subcategories would be a good way to streamline image selection.

Doesn't exporting a map image also get a list of deities, if you know where to look? I use DFMA a lot, so that's what I've done.

Far as statue requests, have exactly the same issue. I was really hoping that this new model could get one to pick deity statues, because those are the primary statues that I'd like to see done in particular. A temple lacking an image as a focal point just seems meaningless to me, to the point that I've been putting off the designations in hopes of getting an appropriate statue.

Though I also haven't also gotten to use the new interface much, finding it a bit opaque. Maybe with more practice I'll figure it out.

Ah, I worked it out! I now am content, finding this to be not much harder than the level of obscurity I've become accustomed to.
