They surely wouldn't live long.
There aren't many places that you can even embark that have molten cheese lying around for the dragon to breathe, and I imagine your dwarves would sell or eat it before megabeast time came around.

I found an aquifer underneath a stone layer once. Not down and a bit to the left of the stone layer. Under. How often does that happen, because I've never seen that before and I never saw it again.

Sandstone and something else can hold aquifiers and near volcanic sites there's usualy obsidian ontop.

Rare, but not unnatural.
