Is this a bug or am I missing something?
« on: November 15, 2015, 06:53:22 am »

Hi,

Can anyone see if I'm doing something incorrect here?
I have a stockpile that has a max barrel set much higher than the present number of barrels (10 × 10 stockpile, 15 used slots, rest empty).
In stockpile settings, under Food, the entire "Extract (Animal)" is allowed.
Outside my fort, I have a bunch of barrels that are filled with different sorts of milk. For some reason they aren't moved to the stockpile...

Max wheelbarrow 1.
Does it have a wheelbarrow? Try setting that to zero.

Also press u, unless you want that pile filled with meals.

OMG, it was the wheel barrow setting, thanks =D
But why was that the reason btw? Just for my understanding?

1 wheelbarrow = 1 dwarf hauling + distance = long time !!

I usually set it to 3(max) for heavy stuff. Zero for light things like meals.
And make sure you have the wheelbarrows to spare if using them.

1 wheelbarrow = 1 dwarf hauling
Oh, I've missed that. Thought it was able to store max one wheelbarrow =P

If you're using DFHack you can set the max # of wheelbarrows higher than 3, if you want. Also, if it still doesn't work (it sounds like it does) check that the items to be hauled aren't marked as 'f'orbidden, but it doesn't look like that's the case.

Was there, in fact, any wheelbarrow used in the stockpile at all? I was under the impression that if you had no wheelbarrows and set some stockpiles to "accept one wheelbarrow," everything went on like normal as if it was "accept no wheelbarrows."

I don't know actually... I had misunderstood the wheel barrow functionality, I thought it was like the barrels, such that it was possible to store it there if I set the number to one. =/

I think the number of wheelbarrows specified sets the number of hauling jobs regardless of how many wheelbarrows you have available (so the extra jobs would then be performed by hand carrying). I can't swear on that though.

It does.  One wheelbarrow = one dwarf is allowed to move things to/from the stockpile at any time.  There is no "move it by hand if I can't find a wheelbarrow", so if you screw that up, you find yourself with a big-ass stone stockpile but only one guy's tending it, which sucks balls.
