Torchlight II is good loot porn and there's enough skill trees in the classes to keep you interested. Failing that, you can download mods. There's lots of mods.

You know what? I have that and haven't gotten too far in it. Thanks for reminding me. Any mods you would suggest?

You can play DCSS as a melee character pretty damn easily, but use a bit of strategy when you want to. Don't expect to win, but <tab>, o is a legitimate play style for a bit.

Chucking DoomRL on HNTR or ITYTD difficulty can be a good laugh. A bit of inventory management, but it's fairly point and click when you want it to be. Choose a marine, go for an Army of the Dead build, make a tactical shotgun. Do the Wall, get the missile launcher. Pick up every shell and rocket you can. Lots of corner shooting. You can actually finish the game doing this.

Or be a scout and pick Int(2). Then just blast what you want with stuff. You know where the enemies are, where the power-ups are and where the stairs are. Pick and choose your battles from there.

Heaps of crap to collect and mod up into super weapons and armour. Plenty of builds to try out. Can be played seriously when you want to. Everything makes a satisfying sound when you fire it. Blood and gibs so it's fun. And you can muck around a bit with barrels/lava/bfgs/ammo-wastage/whatever when you want to for extra kicks. Stick it in ASCII mode so your brain doesn't have to work as hard and you can see the whole level while you play.

I'd second Torchlight 2 - it's pretty much just what you're wanting. It never held my attention all the way through, but it's a damn good game.

If you want to go a bit further out, Warframe is pretty good for loot/crafting/whatever. It's action based, but it's pretty good for RPG stuff (tons of customization, levelling, loot, crafting).

I'm not sure what you mean by inaccessible - if you mean that you've already played through half of the game and don't want to start again - I feel your pain. It happened to me with BG2 and it took me a long time to go back to it. I eventually did it again with a completely different playstyle and it was good fun - there's tons to miss, but some of the quests become a bit frustrating when you KNOW the outcome but can't just go to the end.

IWD 1/2 are very good for starting again with though - I've played through both 2-3 times with completely different parties and had a fantastic time!

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

For some reason, I've been having an urge to play some games or custom maps for games based around being a prisoner pulling off a prison break (whether crafting or clever map design is involved). It's like the ultimate MacGuyvering game, since your only real means of getting things done involves only the local materials/elements/people, and wits (You don't need to be in prison either. You're mysteriously captured, you know nobody is going to save you, so you're your only way out.). Basically, consider it like playing Prison Architect or Dwarf Fortress, then taking control over a prisoner, and attempting to break out of it. It works like an action/puzzler/RPG game of sorts. Even lazy cases of it (mainly because of the limits of the type of game) like some Duke Nukem and Doom SP/MP-CO/Simple Story (basically another reason to run around shooting things) levels I played were even, if not the best written story, still a fun level to play nonetheless (I mean, I even have a savestate of Chrono Trigger for just breaking out of it (Even using Cheat Engine to modify it to make even New Game+ more fun.)).

EDIT:
I just remembered, I have Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay/Dark Athena. That's always an option.

EDIT EDIT:
That would make an awesome way to begin DF Adventure Mode. Start as a random prisoner of any locations (Using Legends as a reference) one is currently jailed/chained/caged. What species are you (Dwarf, Elf, Goblin, etc.; Hell, even random wild animal caught)? What's the motive of capture? (Prisoner raiding a fortress (thief), prisoner of war (Siege or ambush which resulted in getting caged), Local disturbance (Resident that got a little too rowdy at a tavern or something), Political prisoner (Some noble wanted you out of the picture for a selfish gain), unlucky animal caught in a trap, either to be eaten later, or someone's eventual pet (Which can explain why cats choose their masters).)

Basically, it's more determining just how difficult post-escape would be (Just how feared by the public pre- and post-escape are you? Should the public be worried about you?), and can also provide a motive/mission upon escape (Like clearing your name, or paying off a debt) to prevent an "And now what?" kind of indecisiveness that usually kills an adventure.

Looks like no one mentioned Divine Divinity, Kult: Heretic Kingdoms and Fate.
