two barons?
« on: March 07, 2015, 02:51:44 pm »

So awhile ago we had one of our citizens inherit the baron title because the previous baron of some other fortress died and our citizen was the only heir.  Now our liason is saying that we can become a barony and I need to appoint a baron... does this mean we will have 2 unwanted guests barons in our fortress?  And will one get jealous if the other one has a nicer room?  Oh dear this is terrifying ;_;

I have not yet been appointed a barony, but I have already two baronesses.
Two unrelated dwarfettes who were the heir of two different barionies inherited their titles at the same time.
I am currently finishing their apartments, with a lovely see (gem windows) on the first cave.

Luckly I got a marble pillar with enough space for tombs, I think it will be a wonderful mausoleom for them.

I've heard Minecart Airlines Express offers nice trips to nobility. Alternative trips include a voyage over the volcano. Call 1-800-I-THE-GUINEAPIG-VOLUNTEER and book now!
My fucking armok, you broke the game.

The largest number I've had at one time was seven. Four baronesses, three barons, and five of those had lovers/husbands/wives/partners, so there were plenty of consorts to go around. (Baroness I-love-noone was a creepy sod who just wanted to be allowed to make picks in the forge and eat in her rooms and see no one, and I let her, and eventually moved her to the magma forges on the lowest level of the fort, where she was happy forever after).

One went moody during a seige, somehow escaped our fort, and tottered about picking up items to use for the construction of some artifact right out there in the middle of the war zone. Her firstborn became our new baron after that, and demanded endless coffins, something I thought remarkably appropriate.

Eventually most of them became the level above Baron (Earl?) and they demanded more and more things for themselves. Good god I made a lot of weapon racks and armor stands - they all wanted at least three of each, each. I had some full time engravers engraving huge suites of marble rooms for them.

I'm told it's possible to fill your fort with nothing but nobles and bad luck.

The closest to this I've gotten is that the first outpost liaison in my current fort was the king consort.  Though I really don't understand why the queen sent her husband to be the liaison to my fort on the first year.
