Human bone crossbow
« on: January 29, 2015, 01:50:30 pm »

I don't know how it happened, but it seems my bowyer made some human bone crossbows, and I don't think it's normal :

There is no human meat in the kitchen screen, but maybe it was already eaten by the time I noticed it. ;)
It is in vanilla df, I didn't modify anything in the raws.

Dwarfes do not butcher intelligent beings that is correct.

BUT...

if a human has happened to loose, say, an arm and it rots on its own down to the bones then those bones will be used because there was no butchering involved.

Oh, didn't know that.  There were a lot of slaughtered caravans, so loose limbs were probably plentiful  :)
But it's good, now I don't have to upload that image ;)

You can only link to an image on the internet. It looks like you're trying to link to an image on your hard drive.

For future reference, to put an image on the forum, first, you have to get a website to host your image. I suggest using Weebly (there are many out there, but Weebly is free, unlimited, and I like it's format)

1. get a Weebly Account
2. Make a "website"
3. Just Upload all your images you will ever need to that website
4. Find the image you want, right-click and select "copy image url"
5. On the forum, type (don't use bold, I just did that to show you without the forum thinking I wanted an image)
6. Hit preview to make sure it worked.
7. If it is good, Post it.

Hope this helped.  :D

Photobucket, ImageShack, and imgur are also options, but I don't know how they compare.  I use photobucket since I've had that account for literally years.

Anyway, back in 40.13-40.14 I had someone make a draltha ivory amulet that just happened to contain troll ivory too, so this isn't a one-off.  Somewhere I read that sentient creature bone jewelry on a migrant is a red flag for a vampire.  Can anyone confirm or deny?

I think excessive amounts and many kills of the same race is the red flag.
A couple sentient pieces of jewelry isn't any major sign, though. Just be wary of them.
Jewelry made from the parts of other races isn't an immediate sign, since they apparently take the bodies back and make ornaments.

You know, you can "modify" a post you just made instead of making a new post.

A goblin bone weapon rack:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's put in the duke's tomb now.

edit:

According to my observation, only upper/lower arm/leg will occasionally turn to a stack of usable bone.
