How would I refer to the tendons or nerves in the raws?
« on: November 02, 2014, 06:11:24 pm »

I'm trying to make a slightly overpowered creature for adventuring with, and some planned features are nerves and tendons made of steel/other quality metals. How would I refer to them?

I'm pretty sure I found out how to get at the tendons, but the nerves?

Motor and sensory nerves are just things that are inside [MUSCULAR] tissue, chances to halt the bodypart's functioning if it gets cut. They can't really be altered or displaced.

The creature's [HAS_NERVES] tag puts them in. I don't know if it messes with the actual nervous tissue doing its thing.

I just wrote in a bit like this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
And nothing about it showed up in the error log.

It also likely did nothing.

Also, we got a thread, though imo it's a bit redundant with the mod releases forum existing and preventing mods themselves from being buried.

Those special nerves aren't a tissue at all, like I said. Tendons and ligaments use SINEW.

Weird. I heard somewhere that giving a creature tendons of steel makes it incredibly powerful, an I wanted to know if it was true. Even if not, I would still like steel tendons.

I gave dwarves steel bones, kicked a human in the chest, and completely mushed him just from that. You may be thinking of that.

How did you get your hands on my experiments?

Tendons and ligaments are considered to be "on top" of the [STRUCTURAL] tissue (bone), true. Making them out of impossibly resilient materials makes the cut stop into the muscle without even rattling the bone.

Look up the [TENDONS:] and [LIGAMENTS:] tags in the creature definition to see what stuff they're made of.
