General Travel Schedule:

Mornings: Host breakfast/Keshlan lessons in our carriage with Gorbind, and anybody willing to attend and learn. If demand is greater than space avaible, prioritize family, court allies, and the women we have invited along. Let's keep him exclusive to us. That way he can focus on teaching us rather than a bunch of people.

Afternoons: Lunch with Penrod and Ritillia, if they are available. Work on building up a strong relationship with our brother-in-law.

On days when they are not available, lunch with our brothers instead. His step mother might be a pain in the butt, or even out to kill us, our half still seems reasonable enough. Assure him, as needed, that although you aspire for the throne, you would never harm him to get it, and if the crown does end up on his head, that you would serve him loyally in whatever fashion he might need you. At the same time, talk politics with him in a fashion that is likely to leave him overwhelmed and go over his head, perhaps frightening him off the subject and tempering his ambitions to a degree.

Let William control the flow of conversation when dining with him alone; It would be interesting to see what is on his mind.

^^ Basically all this, but in reverse priority; we talk to Eric and then William and if they're unoccupied we chat with Penrod and Ritalia. We've pretty much solidified our relationship with those two and more talk probably won't get us anywhere. Talking with Eric and William on the other hand would be very advantageous: increasing our relations with Eric will make it more likely that he'll side with us on issues and less likely that he'll betray us at some point; Talking with William will let us piece this background dark magic ghost conspiracy thing together.
On a final footnote we should avoid telling Eric about how we'll support him for the throne or whatever. We REALLY don't want ideas getting into his head. Let's just chill with him and be brothers.


Evenings: Combat pratice/training/drills. Between Verack, Malehsa, and our half brother we should suffer no lack of people to teach us combat skills, and perhaps even various military leadership and tactical skills. Don't forget to talk to and get to know whoever happens to be training us...

Nights: Just before bed, keep your scrying skills sharp, and perhaps learn some juicy secrets, by spying on your fellow travelers for 30 minutes or so. Don't challenge any wards you think are likely to alert the warded, but don't hesitate to challenge any ward you don't suspect to be alarmed.

Also, we should test the trustworthiness of Ariala and each of the fire-mage/apprentices in the Silver Moon Company by making up some juicy rumors for them, and instructing them to keep what you have said secret. If we find them trustworthy, we should, at some point, confide our own magical training with them, and invite them to train with us in secret when we travel back with a much smaller group. I vaguely remember Vukhara was some sort of mage as well, so might as well test her also.

You put in your own writing in his quote and you may want to fix that. That's a pretty good idea about scrying on our brother though.

Might as well. I don't, however, want to hurt him or his reputation unless we absolutely must. Never hurts to have ammo to use when we want though.

If we could harm, slander, or even kill his mother in a way so that it couldn't be traced back to us, I'd strongly consider that, but from what we know of him, he lacks our political savvy, so although he would would stand to gain from our losing the crown, there is no way that he will be one personally engineering that loss.

In the long run, Once we secure the title of crown prince for ourself, our half brother could be a great asset if we manage not to alienate him in the meantime. We will do what we must regarding hostile actions against him, but only when it is clear that it must be done.
I think attacking the Concubine would be a bad idea at this stage and should probably hold off on considering it until we get more intel and a proper motive for doing so.

Well that's kinda WHY i want to do this. Just for ammo. We should also ask the girls there opinion on the kingdom of annalyse, just to see what the common folk think of things.
They're hardly what you might call 'common', but it would be nice to get their opinions on the matter.

-1. That should be a specific ruse we may play later on during a crisis of confidentiality or if we find out someone close to us is siphoning off information to our enemies. It should not be SOP to figure out trustworthiness of some guys we've only just started to know. IMO it's just a waste of a good ruse.

 I'm with weirdsounds suggestion. Spying away!!

EDIT: plus having ammo for character assassinations is always nice :)

Well we obviously don't tell them about the ruse but I still think that we should save it for later when it's more critically necessary. At this juncture it may end up doing more harm than good. At the moment we have no reason to either trust or distrust them. If we play the ruse, then we could find out what allies we would consider trustworthy but if discovered those same people may begin to distrust us and we would eventually gain a reputation of skulduggery and spying on our own allies, which, of course, makes it that much more difficult to gain new ones. This is the worst case scenario but there are other variables to consider if we end up doing this plan. I will admit that performing this ruse now may well give us some experience if we need to use it during more important circumstances.

If we are going to perform the ruse then there are a few things we should do.

Firstly, we shouldn't overextend ourselves and "invite" to many people in the ruse. It could get difficult to manage all the lies we concoct and increasing the amount of people we're rumouring too may have them become suspicious. What would happen if a particular smart person took notice of all the new rumours going around that had begun by Raynor? True they may or may not suspect that we're playing this particular ruse but it's still worth considering.

Secondly, as a partial corollary to the above point, we should focus our efforts specifically on people we either want to trust or of whom we suspect may be untrustworthy. We don't want to waste our time figuring out some nobody we don't care about.

Thirdly, we shouldn't make the rumours too juicy, too pedestrian, or too important. If they're too scandalous the rumours themselves may cause unpredictable incidents to sprout which will probably not be to our advantage. If they're too boring the subject probably wouldn't even want to spread the rumour in the first place which would make telling them of it a waste of time. If we make out the rumours we give to have too much actual impact then they may feel more obligated than usual to keep the secret to themselves, though this type of rumour would definitely help in rooting out the snakes of our party.

Finally, we should either focus on the adults or the other children. It would be too much work keeping track of the rumour mills of both social circles. Personally, I would recommend that we focus on the children since it would be easier to ingratiate ourselves within it and we'll be able to both spread the rumours and obtain feedback more easily.

If I may ask mlam, why the motivation anxiety? Are you concerned with quality (which has been fine during these slower, um, turns/story. Can't always have a cool thing going on after all.) Or are you generally not liking this game?

I'm asking because I know it's hard making such a huge complex game sounds fun but It can get time consuming especially since I know your writing that book. Don't ever feel bad for one day saying " guys this is getting too hard to write I'm out." An start something new. Remember this is your story, you decide how to end it. We're just here to provide suggestions :)
