It looks like there is some limit on how many (for example) war dogs you can have. After getting thirty or so they stopped having puppies. Then a were cavy appeared and slaughtered a lot of them. Now we're getting more puppies again.

Are there maximums for domestic animals? What are they?

If you have 50 dogs, or more than half your dogs are juveniles (puppies), they won't breed anymore.

Is that the same for all domestic animals, and is it a separate limit for each animal or do they add up?

e.g. Could you have 50 dogs, 50 cats and 50 sheep?

The same cap applies to each species on your site separately. You can have 50 of everything (although your FPS will suffer).

Yeah, it's around 50 per animal type. Already pregnant animals can bring this over the cap.

It's exactly 50 per animal type, or more than 3 children per adult, whichever comes first. And, as stated, this only prevents new pregnancies from starting - existing ones will still progress to completion.

Meant that more as you can end up with around 50, more or less, from the pregnacies. And I tend not to speak with exacting words.. makes me feel presumptuous. Helps players feel comfortable, knowing they aren't the only ones who make mistakes.
