Transcendence is pretty much just Escape Velocity. I don't see any FTL in it at all.

Roguetemple is another place to look besides roguebasin.

Prospector is another good one. You fly around with your spaceship and can land on planets to explore them with your awayteam. There are many special planets to. You can make money in different ways like doing missions for corporations, trading, mining, or by scanning unexplored celestial bodies to sell the data. It has ASCII graphics and a randomly generated system. It's quite difficult and it takes some effort to figure out the details.
