Which would you prefer: (vote once for #1 and once for #2)

#1 No new tileset without the UI

Putnam, I can think of several ways the last point (3) could be implemented... It's perfectly possible besides the miasma clouds

Have 2 castes, one untrained magic user the other trained. Make untrained one appear more commonly, and have interactions that count as "random magical effects" (like adding opposed to life etc...) and then after 12 months or so they run an interaction that transforms them into a trained magical user (process can be sped up with a boiling stone reaction that transforms them into the trained magic user also per say) who can run more "stable" interactions such as necrotise a foes skin or whatnot... Simples.
Edit; yes the effects wouldn't be random, but you could define a list of interactions that count as "unstable" magic testing such as transforming all your dogs into cats etc...

That's way too much work for a minor feature that the player probably won't interact with m...
