The End Of The Affair
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPn4mImWfEEI consider this one a bad film, despite great acting(Finneas, Moore, Rea), cinematography and the lot. It's just that the story introduced deus ex machina as its main plot driver, defusing the drama built up by all the otherwise good work. And frankly, if not for the music(Michael Nyman, great as always) I wouldn't care for it whatsoever.
Danny the Dog(aka Unleashed)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN5H6wogaaM&list=PLF3C2C4059864284AThink about it: Luc Besson, Jet Li, Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins. How in the world can anybody fuck that up? This will remain one of the unresolved mysteries of the universe, although I'd wager letting Besson write the script instead of putting him behind the camera was partially to blame.
The film is dumb and puerile, even as it looks great. It feels like it's trying to provide background to the soundtrack, like some oversized music video. I mean, it's Massive Attack, it doesn't need any background to be fantastic.
The original 1982 Conan the Barbarian has some of my absolute favourite music. Your mileage may vary on the movie itself, it has a cult following, and I actually kinda like it, but many people would consider it a bad movie I guess.
Man, I love the film with all my nostalgia, but it's easy to see how it can be considered an opera with an adventure romp tacked on.
