I imagine in a perfect world both candidates would run ads based on their merit, not on the faults of their opponents. Also, there would be no Super PACs. In fact, no PACs at all. You know what? How about no outside funding. Both candidates get a set budget and the only people who can influence their view are the people, their party, and themselves.

However, this is an imperfect world. America still waves it's dick around in the other country's faces like it has done for the past century or so, and political action committees are allowed to donate exorbitant amounts of money.

[/rant]

I just kind of wish christians like me were more common, who didn't really care much for politics.

In the consolidation of church and state, the only casualty is the church. For men with greed in their hearts take position in the church, and the church becomes a twisted shell of it's former self. See: the time of the early Catholic church, where the word "Papal Controller" was not "surprising", or "heretical", it was common.

Ugh, too much rant. Anyway, back on topic. I actually have to agree with Leafsnail here. Using the bible as a tool of attack is wrong. I support this thread on the basis that it is satire of the republican's use of scripture.

Having no interest in politics is not a good thing. If most politicians are corrupt, why would you want to give them more power?

If less people were interested in power, than the knowledgable could sit down and govern much more effectively without all these hands in the cookie jar... In a perfect world...  *braces oneself*

It's happened a few times. Think of our long-lost philosopher kings, the one that springs to mind for me is our old King James IV who failed miserably at the battle of Flodden against the pesky English. He was a really bright guy - spoke Latin, Scots, Spanish, French, Flemish, Italian and the Gaelic. He conducted experiments in languages, was fascinated by science (built a gun foundry at Edinburgh castle), was a patron of the Arts, was enthusiastic about our first printing press and was particularly keen on alchemy. A renaissance king/prince. However, even knowledgeable people can fuck up, just like he did - for all his education and good will and success, he wasn't ready for Flodden, and he paid for that unreadiness with his life. Now the flooers o' the forest are wed away, etc.
