I happened to find a really cool embark site. If anyone is interested I'll post the world gen parameters and coordinates.

It's a warm, heavily forested, area where two rivers meet. The cool thing is that it has a natural waterfall 7-Z levels high into a large river/lake area with completely vertical cliffs all around.  So I'm going to get seven levels of rooms with a decent view of a waterfall.

I've never actually seen a river flood in this version of Dwarf Fortress.

For me, it was went the waterfall thawed before the river below did.  This set up a situation where it ended up with 9/7 water in the streambed at the bottom of the falls.  The water fell fast enough to maintain this situation, and when winter rolled around again I then had spots of ice two z-levels tall in a few places.  This just exacerbated the situation the following spring. I did not get a chance to see what happened on the third winter, as the zombies ate my dwarves during the second summer.
