Related: I killed a "husband of the vampire night hag" or somesuch. Its lair contained dwarf, elf, and human meat.

My adventurer had no aversions to eating any of it.

I'm pretty sure that this is related to what happened to me, the other day here in the real world.  With the rain battering the windows and the wind howling around the chimneybreasts and eves of my little cliff-top cottage, as I reclined by the fireside in my plush high-backed chair, re-reading my prized first-edition copies of Proust as a prelude to redoing my prior translations of his works, I discovered to my horror when I checked the liquor cabinet that I'd completely run out of my prized Garrafeira, and I'd still not replaced my stock of Colheita.  I had to fall back upon some cheap alternative fortified wine, that one or other of my many great-nephews had misguidedly deigned to send one Christmas, in order to attempt to satisfy my palette.

Still, any port in a storm...

Heh, thats a bug that isnt supposed to happen, toady posted it in his daily blog-thingy.
It happens when a night creature abducts a vampire, somehow the night creature  becomes a vampire so the vampire becomes a husband of the vampire night creature.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

I've noticed this as well, some companions can swim just fine, others down. No idea why.

Maybe some are historical figures that learned swimming in worldgen?

To train swimming in companions, get in the water with them adjacent on land. Move into the land tile they're on to switch places and get them into the water. Wait a few turns (I go with 10, but that's just how long my wait macro is for) and then switch places with them again to get them back on land. Standing in the same water tile will train swimming just as fast as moving around. It takes rather a long time to train a companion to not drown, but works for weapon masters that you want to keep around. You can also use the switch-places thing to haul a few companions across narrow rivers without them being able to swim.

Or you could just add a [NATURAL_SKILL:SWIMMING:2] token to humans et al.
