Dwarves - In a human city?
« on: February 18, 2012, 02:35:14 pm »

So, I started the game as a human, and I was lucky enough to start in the deveoped capital. Strangely enough, I entered a bowyers shop to buy arrows (which seems to only sell bows and crossbows), and found a group of Dwarves -

Why dwarves in a human city? I looked around, and it's mostly Dwarves - I've checked several shops and I've seen only one human, there are mostly Dwarves.

Every few miles, [the dwarves] stop the cart.  One of the dwarfs (sic) gets off, digs a hole down below the dirt layers, licks the bedrock, and then they know exactly where they are.  It's called GPS: Geological Piquancy Sampling.

I reccomend letting him go nuts, though.  If he goes berserk, free target practice for your military!  If he doesn't, raving naked bedridden dwarf!

I've seen many cities populated by a coalition of elves/humans/dwarves. I've found "human" cities with nothing but elves. I have no idea what causes any of these.

since their cities don't appear, they got to live somewhere.

Hell, even the military is controlled by Dwarves.

Humans are very rare in this city. I found some weird temple, which was actually a whole in the ground, with some human who's title was THE EXALTED AQUAMARINE.

cities are indeed much more "cosmopolitan"

might have something to do with humans taking slaves, and the slaves breeding.  the newborns would be "born free" i think, giving humans multirace towns.

same thing happened in old versions with goblin babysnatching.  was quite possible to have goblin civs without any goblins, peopled only by "adopted" members of other races.

Because races =/= civilizations.

Which means that conquered dwarven/elven civilization members will become part of human civilization and live in human towns.

"War .... war never changes."

edit: In fact, in the world I just made, one of the human civilizations conquered a dark fortress and made it their capital! No goblins sighted yet, but I am in my home hamlet still.

I think the big cities might actually get migrants from other races. I hardly see any large human city or town without some dwarves or elves.
I imagine most of them arrive as foreign merchants and then just stay there because it is more convenient.

According to Sites description one of the human lead towns in my world was populated by
humans, dwarves, elves, goblins, kobolds and various types of *men
seems like some towns now are real melting pots of various races :)

I get the idea of towns, but once in my starting hamlet there was a dwarf with the title "Dwarf Slave".
