Important note:since this is now on the bug tracker, I'm making this an adventure story thread
to read my encounter with the bug that started the topic -->
so there I was, walking into a shop.
I wandered towards the back of the store to see what all they had.
Upon walking through the last door, I was shot in the leg and given a tawdry speech about how mighty that prick is.
I also noticed that the shopkeepers were totally fine with him shooting me.
Not being one to just lie down and take a beating, I cut off that asshole's arm.
Apparently, I had crossed some invisible line because after that, I was attacked by four shop keepers and my own soldiers.
I got away(slowly on account of the leg thing) and now no one in the civ will talk to me without accentuating the words with attempted homicide.
I am going to learn the secrets of necromancy, and then their city shall burn. I failed to see a weapon trap in a tomb and promptly bled to death.
tl;dr: hostile entity still considered friendly to the civ created loyalty problem when I fought back.
I will use this post to keep you guys up to date on my adventures rather than make endless posts :p
I began a new adventure, this time as a human.
As luck would have it, I found a warehouse filled with
crap gently used goods for the needy
I managed to scrounge up a full set of iron armor after several minutes of sifting through the mountain of goods plus a couple good weapons
After wandering a bit, I found a market. After buying some food to make sure I'd be fine on my journey, I decided to ask the farmer if there was anything I could help with.
He informed me that over a hundred townspeople had been killed by a vampire. He also gave me a mysterious clue: I was to go to the local keep.
Naturally I went there and began my search. Never in a million years did I expect to find such a terrifying piece of evidence.
I found a figurine carved out of giant hedgehog bone. On this otherwise unremarkable figure was carved an image of the very beast I was hunting. It showed her ascending to the position of law-giver. The very same man I had walked past moments ago. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the woman was wearing hundreds of pieces of jewelry made from the remains of sentient beings. Slightly obvious in retrospect, actually. Naturally I went to confront this monstrosity.
the confrontation:
I confronted her, summoning all my strength.
She launched at me in blind fury, but I was too quick and the beast did lose an arm.
A quick thrust through the lung, the beast is on the ropes.
She attempts to flee. No matter, there is only one exit.
She has fled into the dungeon, blood making her path obvious. The hunter will be found and slaughtered.
I begin sneaking about.
She has fled into a small room; this time I will finish what I began.
I announce my position by throwing a pike through her lung, the same one I had already punctured.
I am still a little wary, she has retained her knife throughout. Even a mouse will fight when cornered.
I lop off a leg. No more shall she flee. This is the end, and she knows it.
With a mighty whack from my shield the deed is done, the beast slain, the townfolk freed
I go now to inform the townsfolk.
The townsfolk are glad to be rid of the monster. I am glad to continue exploring.
Shortly after leaving the keep I find a massive hole in the middle of the city. Beautifully carved pillars surround this place.
It is a tomb. There are so many corpses, and I have not yet explored the whole thing.
This is likely the resting place of those slain by the vampire as well as an explanation for all the empty shops around here.
I shall remember this place for when I have learned the secrets of life and death. Traps infest the lower levels; I must be cautious.
I have stumbled upon something evil, and it has placed a curse on me. I shall worry about that later. First, I must deal with this monster.
I am striking at it, but my blows are glancing off of its armor. I may have to be creative.
I have severed the creature's hands and feet, yet it still attacks.
Throwing my shield at it has done little to damage the creature, though I now have a plan.
Thinking quickly, I grab its helmet. After a brief struggle, I have gained possession of it.
While attempting to repeat the feat with its mail shirt, the severed hands have reanimated.
Also it bit me through several layers of armor (wat?)
To break its hold I hit it in the head with my sword; it is rather effective. A little too effective, actually, as my sword is now stuck.
We have backed up towards the traps, one of which takes a shot at the animate hands
Though the hands are bleeding to death, the mummy continues to summon them back.
I have now cut off some more of the mummy's bits and bobs; this is growing tedious.
A few more blows traded. It bit me in the right hand, tearing the fat (why do I even bother wearing armor?)
Out of annoyance, I throw the pike I keep in my backpack, causing the mummy to lose another half a leg.
Son of a bitch bit me in the hand FRACTURING THE BONE.
IT. IS. ON.
welp. it bit off my right hand.
At this point I just want to kill it before I die.
the constantly reanimated right hand has scratched me in the head, shattering my skull, tearing the brain
I am dead.
conclusion: armor does nothing. at all. against a pair of hands. or teeth. but a limbless mummy is agile enough to dodge a hail of sword strikes.
look to my next post where I will attempt to avenge myself, or go on another adventure altogether, depending on where I spawn.
