I had a pretty bizarre dream recently where I was watching an animated Warhammer 40K cartoon drawn in the CalArts style, which focused on the princeps of a titan.  A warhound I think.  Anyway, he was in a vaguely homoerotic relationship with one of the titan's moderatii, who had a fully cybernetic head and looked a bit like Dr. Doom.  The titan was aboard a ship that entered the warp by inflating a balloon on the outside and popping it, and they went to whichever planet it was in the first Commissar Cain novel featuring tyranids.  They were utterly unconcerned with the whole tyranid invasion, and the princeps and his moderatus buddy went to some kind of Adeptus Mechanicus spa and got in a oil hot tub together.

Then my dream transitioned into some kind of first person shooter and I don't remember what happened afterward.  A ton of my dreams end up being me in a first person shooter where I can "hit the escape key" in my head to bring up a game menu and quit.

Reminds me of the dude who escaped his nightmares because he could always mentally impose a submenu with an escape option that would wake him up

My latest dream was a weird mix of medieval cults and drone warfare.  My "character" in the dream was able to defeat the killbots with a handheld mirror.  But we also booby-trapped a castle to explode because it was being taken over by the enemy faction.

The drones looked, for the most part, like the broken massage-bot in WALL-E, but they could fire death lasers from the sky like in Alice in Borderlands.

I reach up and grab an ejector seat handle and it kicks me out.

Main thing I remember from last night was a chick who sounded like Tuca from Tuca and Birdie (can't remember her name) asking me and the missus what we thought we were doing, I quip "whatever the hell I feel like doing" and she says she was just kidding, but this space is supposed to be for customers, not loitering teenagers, missus and I pause, turn to each other and say "teenagers? thank you" and I anticipated a sitcom laughtrack to kick in so much it woke me up when it didn't happen.

Sometimes if I really don't like a situation I will myself back in time and retry. That happened a while ago when I was dreaming about driving somewhere and a cop pulled me over. I went back in time and waited for the cop to pass the intersection before I continued just to get out of an imaginary ticket.

I don't do anything near as interesting as all of that, I just blink a bunch until I manage to knock myself out of the dream.

I'm not sure what I do.  It feels kinda like relaxing a muscle at the back of my skull.  If I visualize that part of myself, I usually wake up- if I can.  Sometimes that's enough to get my eyes open, and then I have to overpower sleep paralysis, which I've gotten better at.

Sometimes I think I've done it but I've actually fallen back asleep, and those are the most annoying dreams.

This time my mother was driving me and some other me's.  Once again we were going much too fast, maybe I was back in the apocalypse dream from before.  We were following a cliff by the ocean, she always loved the beach.  She drove us down a ramp onto a loooong flat table of rock cut out from the cliff.  Like an unfinished Minecraft project.

The table had an end, and we were headed right for it.  I warned her and we skidded to a stop, the front wheels hanging off the edge.  I remember thinking it was dream-like yet didn't realize it was a dream.  I was so relieved, particularly as she was able to reverse the car (rear wheel drive, I remember observing).

But we kept reversing, faster and faster.  I had already spoken up once and remained quiet, not wanting to be a bother.  We careened off the opposite end of the table.  A male me warned us to hold our breath and I did, just in time.  Water rushed in impossibly fast.  I remained eerily calm, taking my time to unfasten my safety harness.  Surely this was all okay, some plan I didn't understand, and if I remained calm I'd be just fine.  My male counterpart was scrambling to unbuckle me, panicking.

I looked up at how far away the surface was, and woke myself up.

I was a secretary/assistant on Teddy Roosevelt's campaign staff and we were on a bus trip across America and I was bored AF.  We stopped at a buffet and everyone was captivated by Roosevelt.  I asked if he wanted any food and he strode up to the buffet and started grandly transferring the various foods into each other with a ladle.  Everyone thought this was brilliant beyond their understanding, I had to stand there and cope with the revelation that he was going senile.

Later us staff were sat on bleachers waiting for a speech.  I was with the other women but I was the only one with my legs crossed, bluh.  I was bored and disillusioned and everything felt so pointless and fake.  Then the lady to my left whispered "You know that was a clone, right?".  In the dream this was a far-left conspiracy theory about Roosevelt.  I was lib in the dream but I didn't care, I was in the perfect mood to hear about socialism and the Black Panthers and anything to be honest.  Please please PLEASE infodump at me, friendly "communist" (actually anarcho-socialist) agent.

It's a dream I've had more than once before, or at least variants of, where I find myself really having to pee. Except that for some reason, the toilet is replaced with a small hole in the floor I have to aim for. This morning, the feeling of dream-peeing was intense enough that I woke with a small panic to check if I hadn't actually peed myself(I didn't, thankfully). I have found myself having to pee more than usual today, though.

Something similar to that happens to me occasionally.  If I have to pee, I either can't find a bathroom, or something is wrong with the bathroom.  Like there's no toilet, I can't get the door open, or someone else is inside, etc.  I've also never actually peed myself despite sometimes even peeing in the dream, which usually provides relief for only a few seconds.

It's weird.  It's like your brain knows it can't do anything about the situation so it makes up nonsense.

I had dreams like that when I was anxious about something. One time a little pee came out, which woke me up immediately.

I'm glad I don't get dreams about pissing myself, I just get dreams that are really weird.

Dreamed I was marshalling hordes of goblins to eliminate enemy economy buildings and win. Then I realised that there is no win condition in life and this must be a dream. Realising it was a dream, I commanded my goblins to new heights of absolute scavenging as I believed there would not be much more time left to this dream before I awakened
