General Discussion / Re: How would SCP Foundation contain Bay12?

I have the strangest feeling that we've had this exact thread and discussion before but I can't recall when, where or why :V

Hades 2 just hit EA.

It is fun as hell, everybody is hot and the stuff they added/changed from the first one is pretty nice. Best things so far is the big fuck-off axe that's super satisfying to use and the second region bossfight which has the sickest music so far.

Whole thing feels surprisingly complete too, compared to the original. Like, there's stuff that's clearly not finished or hasn't been added yet, but it feels like at the moment the game has about as much stuff as the fully completed original did, which is pretty neat.

Driving back from work, playing music from my phone trough the Bluetooth connection thingy on the car radio, like I've been able to without any issues for the past year+

Mid song, the fucking thing goes quite because it dropped the BT connection for an unknown reason. When I'm back on the parking lot several attempts of trying to re-pair the two devices fail for reasons I can't figure out. Keeps saying the PIN is incorrect, but it never asks for one, or shows one on the pairing prompt. And I've no idea why the fuck would it decide to change shit mid-connection so it refuses to work, there weren't any updates going on or anything ffs.

Modern tech man, truly turning into magic as it becomes more and more obscured and obtuse in the ways it works :V

I think it's getting a bit of a Banished treatment, a decent game that for some reason is way too talked up by a ton of people. From playing it a couple of hours, so far, it pretty much is Banished+

Still very early and lacking a ton of features, but whats there is fairly polished and enjoyable if you're looking for a somewhat relaxing city-builder. The atmosphere is pretty much spot on tho, I'd love to see them add more to it in terms of building variety and options to have some properly creative looking villages and towns down the line.

I'd say if you want a similar but far more involved and complete experience, go for Foundation as that one has been in development by a bit more people for a good while now and while it's nowhere near as graphically impressive it still looks and plays pretty good for the price.

Zeal & Ardor - to my ilk

Their new single just dropped and hoooo boy is it a good one. Can't wait to see what the rest of the album is like, as this more like Birdmask than Z&A which is an interesting direction as I'm really curious what the potential fusion of the two might sound like.

Just saw Monkey Man

It's essentially John Wick, except Indian. Simple, straightforward, well shot and directed (there's this really cool vibe of sensory overload at times that conveys the chaos of the situation perfectly imo) and incredibly violent at times.

Overall a pretty good time.

Work related upsets leading to some shitty sleep most likely leading to a long and shitty day at work and off it.

Where you get handed a shit sandwich when you arrive, you try your best to salvage it (and I'll be first to admit there's things I missed and could've done better in retrospect, but the end result wouldn't have been that much better, polishing a turd and all that) and then get chewed out by the person responsible for assembling said shit sandwich in the first place.

On a logical level I understand the distribution of blame here and know I shouldn't be that upset about it, but fuck me when you're exhausted it's hard to think like that :V

Yeah, by covering for him and not half-assing it you just encourage the shitbag to abuse your goodwill and work ethic. As someone who's recently been moved into a supervisory role it's kinda rough when you have to resist the urge of just doing something properly when you see someone half-assing it, but you know the moment you start doing that the bastards will have zero incentive to ever start doing the work properly because they'll learn that you'll just cover for them.

Ran a half-marathon today with a couple of friends. Not only did I finish but I did surprisingly well compared to what I was expecting, clocking in at 2:12 overall. Makes me happy that I'm in such a good shape despite spending a bunch of time basically human pretzeling in front of the PC.

Whats less fun is the bloody pain in my legs and knees tho :V

I've been diving back into 40k in general lately (mostly listening to podcasts and stuff about the lore to pass time at work) and  jamming out to the Mechanicus OST.

An idea occurred to me. A factory building game in vein of Factorio or DSP except you're a high ranking Magos tasked with building up a new forgeworld. You get some stuff to start with and get going and then after a bit the imperial war effort starts making demands that must be met, all the while juggling and optimizing the ever growing factory.

Maybe have preset stuff where you're sent into an existing factory to make it better too.

A grimdark factory builder is something I really wanna see now and I'm not entirely sure why :V

RISE TARNISHED THREAD FOR WE HAVE A TRAILER AND A DATE!

Those coy bastards, going 'oooh it's a big one it probably won't be ready anytime soon' and then they just casually drop it in the middle of the week, like, 'here you go fuckers, enjoy changing your pants'

Can't tell much about the story but there is gonna be some cool shit to see and kill by the looks of it. The big snake loving dude is a mystery, who the hell is he and why wasn't he mentioned anywhere else up to this point (if my assumption that he's the one the description namedrops as Messmer is correct).

Anyways, woooooo, timed perfectly with my current playthrough that's been going super slowly, I should be just about ready for the launch of this.

Or chessboxing. Where you alternate rounds of chess and box and shit gets progressively worse as the players get more and more concussed.

General Discussion / Re: I like anime, do you like anime?
« on: January 27, 2024, 09:16:38 am »
So uhh, Bang Brave Bang Bravern (quite the title there) is this show that feels like a realistic mecha anime getting house invaded by a hero mecha anime.

3 episodes out so far and I can't quite figure out if I like it or not. I see the potential hilarity and awesomeness if they thread the line between the genres, but I also see how it can play it safe and straight and become fairly generic down the line. The self-awareness is certainly there to make it great, I just hope they have the guts to pull the rest of it off as well.

Plus I don't think the joke of the serious adult military folks being exasperated by the over the top, bigger than life giant talking robot is going to get old anytime fast.

Took a run up to clear a small gap just in case. In the moment of the jump I nudged the stick a bit to the right causing my brave tarnished to leap away from both buildings and into death by falling :V
