The game is a simple one level shooter with a boss at the end.
It is pretty much complete aside from some fine tuning, maybe add some music if I can find somebody willing to provide it.
I'm also thinking of replacing the explosion sound.

So who wants to try and kill the Cube Lord?

What did you use to make it?

it lags when there are too many things on screen at once,
and it's too hard to tell a difference between an enemys bullet and random bits of debris or whatever

I used Game maker.

Plays just fine on my computer, and it isn't exactly top of the line.

Fixed, the only big things on screen are enemies and bullets now, oh and I suppose the terrain would count as big too.

Runs fine on my machine, too.

First impressions: I love the aesthetic, and I like the slower-paced bullet hell feel. But the spaceship is too big and there are too many boolit for survival to be a realistic prospect. I keep getting caught in situations where I'm simply unable to dodge because of the hitbox. Is that intentional?

Wait, isn't the hitbox that tiny little dot in the center of the ship?

Anyway, runs fine on my machine. I like the general aesthetic. Slow moving bullets (the player's bullets) frustrate me. Enemies loose a bazillion shots before mine make it halfway accross the screen. I'm crap at this sort of game though.

Yes it is.

If I made the bullets move faster then the enemies would die too quickly. Besides the game is supposed to be super hard.

Edit: Hmmm, on second thought maybe the bullets could move a bit faster.

Edit: Edit: Just in case there was any confusion these two things are good, you should collect them.

If you're concerned about the bullets doing too much damage by traveling too quickly, just decrease bullet damage as you increase bullet speed. It should balance out.

I've already changed the bullet speed and uploaded the new version.

New Version, now with difficulty select!
Select stuff in the menu by ramming it.

Edit: I should clarify that this is not an April fools joke... for the most part.

The powerups are a little hard to distinguish from all the explosions and whatnot. Perhaps change their color to a friendly green?

Wouldn't fit in with the game's art style, how about I make them larger with a more distinct design?

Is it possible to have it pulse different shades of grey? Something that doesn't flash would be nice, but a slow fade in and out would make it more obvious without changing the design.

I think that the major issue is that explosions cover the power-up shapes, so a more distinct design would be nice anyways.

Oh hey a new version, with STUFF.

Impossible Difficulty is complete.
New effect for the water.
Various bug fixes.
Took The Fools suggestion and made the powerups pulse.

So barring any last bug fixes and refinements the game is more or less feature complete, enjoy! (I consider music a refinement.)
