The censor should actively engage in the elimination of inappropriate engravings or decorations. If a dwarf create an image of something a noble doesnt like or bring such items to trade, s/he will be swiftly executed.

Thanks all.  Re: the sawmill ... I'm still thinking about what to do on the 'raw materials' front.  I've haven't decided much for certain there.

Maybe you find some nice ideas in this thread. It is close to the topic of seperating special workshops with castes

You could readd a worshop, like a quarry or something, to produce stone. (for constructions)

Hmm.
How would you reach the caverns/HFS without any mining?
I can see this becoming very fun tough :D
Mayby revamp mining labor so only miners can operate the quarry?

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Maybe there can be diggable veins of soil that appear in all stone layers, that should allow players to not be able to dig stone but find ways into the caverns and Cotton Candy bags that lead to the Circus

You wouldn't :).

It seems, at least to me, that making humans the same as dwarves just called something else would not be particularly useful.  Caverns/HFS/underground fortresses are a dwarven thing.  This here mod is a human thing :P

I still like the dirt vein thing, that gives you a chance to be ripped apart by clowns in the circus. Since if all stone is undiggable (change the "PICK" to "SHOVEL") there won't be many underground fortresses due to the lack of being able to carve into the stone. Also in some biomes water in the caves is essential. But hey you're the modder :P and it already sounds like fun. I like playing as humans, but I also like being attacked by cave critters.

Suggestion 1 for aboveground forts.
Create an undiggable soil layer that spawns in all rock layers. You will have soil all the way down to magmatown.
Set worldgen to create many caves, and limit to only 1 cavern layer
Have ores/rock spawn as normal in different rock layers as per usual.
Remove all creatures with the [BIOME:SUBTERRANEAN_CHASM] tag
Embark always on a cave and explore the huge empty cavern and mine any ore exposed on the walls.

Suggestion 2 for aboveground forts
Undiggable soil and stone - Expansion of Mephs idea
A very large quarry workshop
Each type of rock and ore available as a reaction with Mining as the skill required.
Adjust the rarities by the % chance to succeed (gold and diamond would have to be 1%)
Each quarry needs a Wheelbarrow and Pick to be built (still need picks at embark)

Suggestion 3 for aboveground forts
Undiggable soil and stone
Make stone and ores lighter and cheaper
have several civs that come to trade and have ONLY stone blocks for trade
Have "wild human" sentients that can be captured as slaves. High pet value
Sell other crafts, slaves and wares to build your temple!

Mephs idea
Should be: Hugos idea ;)

Have wagons instead, they can trade heavy items. Elves come without them, who dont trade stone anyway.

If they can perform labors/euqip gear, I want them. If they are breeding pets that dont do anything then what a dog can do, I dont.
