So what causes ice walls appear out of nowhere in glaciers?

Its kind of odd to go there. You see nothing but snow, but then suddenly ice walls surrounding you!

To be blunt, what causes the ice walls to appear is the glacier itself.

Get out of that glacier, do not sleep there unless you want an out of body experience. The climate freezes and water visible and available or produced on the spot.

I can't get the body swap thing work, I only manage to cause myself die from getting encased in ice. Dang it thats the reason I went to glacier in first place..

You'll want to try a frozen ocean for the best chances, also, don't sleep for too long to reduce the chance of a cold dip in the morning :)
