Procrastinators of Bay 12 Unite! ...Tomorrow.
« on: February 01, 2012, 12:06:36 am »

Almost everyone is putting SOMETHING off that they should be done. Half of you shouldn't even be here right now.

Incidentally, I am currently putting off a chemistry lab report that is due in 15 hours.

What are YOU procrastinating right now?

My crippling procrastination habit.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I started and finished two college applications just a couple of hours before their final deadline. On my birthday, no less.

I've been meaning to start a Let's Play of Third Age: Total War, but am currently watching old episodes of Time Commanders. That Let's Play is an attempt to procrastinate from my last piece of coursework due in about a fortnight, and sending letters to employers for my university work placement year (which I started writing earlier to procrastinate from the afore mentioned coursework).

I'm going to write a paper... tomorrow.
I'm going to finish reading a novel... tomorrow.
I'm going to write another chapter or two... tomorrow.
I'm going to go work out... tomorrow.
I'm going to catch up on Economics readings... tomorrow. Or not, even I can't trick myself into believing I'll ever do that.
I'm going to finish up the current decade in my game of Aurora instead of screwing around with ship designs... tomorrow.
I'm going to play Paranoia... tomorrow. And for once, that's the honest truth.

But yeah, chronic procrastination bordered by short periods of extreme stress has got to be healthy, right? And if it isn't, I can always stop... tomorrow.

I might be unique here in that I have absolutely nothing better to do in the literal sense. My only obligation right now is to kill time until there is something to do.

I've got like a half page thing due in like 9 hours. I also have to sleep sometime. I'm putting both of those things off for as long as possible.

Well, well, well. Look what thread I belong in.

What am I procrastinating? Going to bed. Because if I don't go to bed, that'll be one less day that slips away from me, right?

...right?

Got a Flash game to do. My excuse is that I don't know how to do it, even though I could probably throw it together. Aside from that, there's that Japanese book I got for christmas and maths revision.
