Gun control laws
« on: January 31, 2012, 11:46:42 pm »

Is there any specific action in LCS that you can take to manipulate only the gun control law status/public opinion?  I'm wondering because its so much cheaper to outfit a Liberal Death Squad with assault rifles if gun control hits C+, but of course it's not at all worth letting gun control slide to C+ if it means other issues will also slide to the right. (which amusingly in the game law status indicator the right wing laws are to the left)

No, but I'm planning to have gang members sell black market AK's at a flat rate rather than a sliding scale in the "soon" release.

I was under the impression that the sliding scale of the gun laws vs. gun price was a mechanism to add difficulty to the end game that was previously lacking.

It probably was, but that mechanic is boxing the player with kid gloves. I'm probably not overgeneralizing by assuming that anyone who can get to the endgame in LCS can grind the money to buy weapons without too much difficulty. In practice it mainly just made it slower to get weapons when starting out in non-nightmare mode. I don't mind giving you more options in nightmare mode, but the supposedly easier start shouldn't just be slower for the good weapons you can get.

The issue is that currently the game is a slope

When the game is supposed to be on a parabola.

gun laws just dont add much to the difficulty.
1: the main way to get guns is not to buy them but to loot them or have sleeps get them.
2:  it is easy to get a large stock pile of use full guns i.e. 9mm handguns
3: the out flow of guns is low, at most 6 guns a time.
4 the bigger weapons are not as use full as the small ones.

the fact is fighting quicky gets you a massive stockpile of gun, hell ammo is the main thing that runs low and even that is only the 5.56mm clips as there rare ish.

i mainy use 9mm for all with other weapons being for squad use.

maybe if there was a reason to get rid of guns the lcs woud have a reason to try and get new ones.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

The parabolic objective state isn't something that had occurred to me. Excellent visualization.
