Night Creatures are Boggymen are the same thing. They're also solitary.

"Night Creatures" is a designation of a group of creatures with NO connection between them.

However when most people say "Night Creatures" they are refering to Trolls, not Boogeymen.

Boogeymen for example play no part in history, don't do anything, and they only kill lone adventurers (Which is why I think they are just an insane halucination. Since otherwise how are you the ONLY one who knows about it?)

Uh, you do remember that EVERYONE warns you about being outside alone in the dark because of the bogeymen? So that kinda implies that yes, they are real.

But yeah, their odd nature of appearing out of nowhere in dark when you are alone and disappearing just as suddenly is why I thought it would be cool if "troll" type night creatures could summon them. Both are kind of similar in nature because they have randomly generated appearances both, so I thought it would give more insight to boogeymen if they were minions of other night creatures when not randomly attacking travelers for laughs.

They never warn you of Boogeymen.

They just warn you never to be alone at night. Plus there are NO boogeyman attacks in the history books outside your own adventurers), nor do you ever stumble upon any alone entity being attacked by boogeymen, Plus there are intelligent entities who remain solitary yet are never attacked.

It seems to be that there is more evidence supporting that Boogeymen arn't real but are a cautionary tale that has been transformed into an outright paranoia of social outcasts and being alone.

Boggymen are a type of Nightcreature. They aren't different. Nightcreature is the general term. They're still solitary.

Then mod the forgotten beast to spawn in lakes.
You can't do crud with forgotten beasts. They will always spawn in caverns. You can't even turn them of in worldgen....

Where!? You can't see forgotten beast raws unless you do some vodoo magic with an already existing world.

Boggymen are a type of Nightcreature. They aren't different. Nightcreature is the general term. They're still solitary.

The Kidnapping creatures are Trolls (Night Trolls). Booogyoogymen are different (and they may not count as a Nightcreature) and don't kidnap anyone and only attack LONE adventurers in the middle of nowhere.

There are other Nightcreatures that don't kidnap as well and arn't even related in anyway.

Nightcreature is a designation like "Monster" it isn't descriptive to the point of being almost meaningless.

Hmm, do you people have any misc suggestions yourself?

17) Use Alchemy skill and alchemy lab to transmute materials into another materials or creating hybrid/mix and match creatures like chimeras and stuff. That could be a way to make chimeras, centaurs, griffons, manticores and such. That or be able to create dwarf version of colossuses from different materials. Adamantine colossus which upon death creates masterpiece statue of dwarf anyone?

18) Have there be night creature which's M.O. is stalking, staring at you creepily distance ago and kill you when you are alone. Possibly also able to phase through walls. Anyway, I mean kind of Slenderman-ish monster which stalks you and stares at you before suddenly attacking.

19) Have "Succumb to invasion" option transfer the fortress to the civ of invading force making you unable to reclaim it. Just so that you would have extra motivation to fight until all your dwarfs have been slaughtered

20) Have there be creatures who attack only during certain weather or cause certain weathers to happen when they appear. Extra points if you make it so that you can't see the creature that is hiding in the storm/sandstorm/blizzard before it attacks you, for example imagine this: There comes sand storm. You aren't thinking anything about it, after all weathers haven't ever done anything special. Then suddenly, dwarf near your fortress entrance notices monster that attacks you and you are like "OH CRAP". While older players will instead know to be paranoid whether its just random sandstorm or the one that hides a monster...

21) Relating on previous one, have [insert biome] titans have some special abilities depending on where they are from.

22) If colossuses are ever made to be randomly generated, it could be done in this way: Have the material randomized and the which creature statue that you get upon killing them is. Like steel giant scorpion colossus which becomes masterpiece steel giant scorpion statue or bronze elf colossus that becomes masterpiece bronze elf statue.

Updated the first page, please tell me your own suggestions if you have ones that you wouldn't consider to be major/radical ones.

Can't comment. The magical system hasn't been fleshed out yet. Weather needs to redone first though.

Its kind of boring how nobody is interested in suggesting or commenting... Oh well.

Also, at the moment titans just have same random special abilities as demons and forbidden beasts. I meant that, for example glacier titans would have ice related abilities and desert titans sand related.

That goes against the theme elements that's dwarf fortress has been presenting to us. What affects abilities, isn't the environment, but its alignment. This is pretty neat, as it opens itself up to stronger natural narratives.
