If they get suspicious, pull out our gun and shoot a few enemy zombies, and say that we were a guard or something.

The survivors were trapped in a zombie apocalypse.  One of them just lost an arm, and who knows how much food and ammo they have left?  The cavalry just arrived and saved their asses, I don't think they'll question it *too* much.  Particularly since our zombies really aren't going to attack them now (unless we say so).
