Interesting approach with Sasha, seems like a good plan.  Even if it goes wrong it will be quite interesting.

You decide to go check on the ants. You step outside and walk over to the ant nest.
The nest seems to have dealt with their infection rather admirably, unfortunately. The swollen and discolored corpses are being hauled out of the nest by whole hordes of ants.
Well, maybe a bird will eat them.
Almost the second you think that a huge raven drops down and starts eating the ants. Dead and alive ones alike. It gorges itself for a few minutes (which is surprisingly interesting to watch.) before falling down and twitching like someone put 40 000 volts through it.

You wait for a bit until the Raven gets up, It's eyes are now blood-red. It caws at you, then flies over and sits on the most comfortable place it can find. It fortunately decides to pick a shoulder.
It is a massive bird. It could easily peck out some eyes. Looks like we have a new pet! Again. Let's try not get this one killed.
Should we give it a name?

If birds can infect other birds by pecking or being eaten, we may be minutes away from utterly zombifying the entire local bird population.  If they can spread it to other animals then good-bye world ecosystem (continental barriers may slow them down, depending on whether zombie fish are a thing, but the Bering Strait (Asia-North America) is full of migratory seabirds.  No continent is safe.

Of course if infecting the ecosystem like that is possible, it probably already happened.  There are plenty of unknown factors that could cause the infection to spread relatively slowly, or not at all.  So I think we're either safe or too late to stop it (if we even want to!)

Still, it'd be nice to know.  Lets have our bird attack a live bird and see what happens - for SCIENCE!

You know with the amount of zombies that have disappeared, slob, blood. bodily fluids that have been spilled, creatures bitten that turned with out us around you think we would like wiped out most of life about now
