We so need that. The speech upgrade isn't even necessary as far as we can tell, because Snowflake at least is kind of learning communication.

Lets take memory, but we must take regen eventually a horde of smart healing zombies is the best horde of zombies. Giving them speech might let them do injury traps to pull in good samaritans.

I know, but I see it as a path to becoming some form of super-predator, which would be awesome. Plus if we get it for ourselves that might give us the oppurtunity to give to the horde as well.
