My general thoughts for today (2/24/12)...
« on: January 30, 2012, 11:22:39 am »

I'm sick of my dwarven babies being left alone to die, so I feel like there should be a function where orphaned infants should be adoptable like pets. Although, I also feel like this might be better off in suggestions or something...NO! It's fine here, I'm discussion an aspect of Fortress mode, so it fits perfectly.

That would be great.  I think it will probably happen under the personality rewrite, though, so we might be waiting a while for it.

Perhaps forced adoption so I could leave my military without.. terrible thoughts of babies being impaled due to being carried into battle. Like the crazy cat lady but with newborns.

Changed the title so I don't need to open a new thread for this...

My current mayor is now my favorite dwarf. He claimed a forge in a secretive mood, and managed to get a goblin bone on a completely vanilla fort. Not sure what part it was from, but apparently somedwarf got rather violent with one of those poor greenskins...

Robekshorats, "Barbwires", a copper battle axe

This is a copper battle axe. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is decorated with blue peafowl bone, willow, and sheep wool and encircled with bands of prase and goblin bone. This object menaces with spikes of prase. On the item is an image of a circle in copper.
On the item is an image of Aslot Doomedhollow the goblin in blue peafowl bone.

huh.

Wow... this poor miner is just minding his own business, sleeping where he doesn't belong, and I truly feel bad for him. Not because he's about to die, but because this FB actually stopped right there and is now waiting, watching him.

Actually, it looks more like it's trying to smash the door down because, like ~90% of all forgotten beasts, it doesn't know how to open doors.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

That would have made sense if it was at the door, but it was quite literally just standing there, in the middle of the hallway...

Might not've seen your Dorf. Or maybe it's waiting for you to do the sentimental thing, and order a rescue shaft to be dug down to the miner, so it'll have full access to the fort. An application of magma perhaps? :P

Urist McBonehead has been ecstatic lately. He has witnessed the death of a spouse recently. He was witnessed the decay of a loved one's corpse recently. He sustained major injuries lately. He was rescued lately. He complained about the lack of beds lately. He was horrified by a subordinate's precocious sleeping arrangements lately. He was accosted by a terrible vermin lately. He has adopted a child lately.

Building destroyers can destroy buildings from 2 tiles away, so he's as close to the door as he needs to be.
