There was an entire ludum dare about shop management, but I lost the link.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

Hi, have you looked at games such as the Harvest Moon series or their spin-off games the Rune Factory. I know these aren't exactly the same, though they share a lot of similiar game mechanics. I also saw an article on Touch Arcade about a port of a game from the PSP called Adventure Bar Story which also looks quite similiar.

Well, in that case...

Star Wars Galaxies allowed full on player built cities which had shops that you could put your crafted items in and have bots you could program that would sell them and interact with players in the shop. It was pretty awesome, so many things were done right in that game.

Of course, Star Wars Galaxies doesn't actually exist anymore so that's not much of a recommendation  :)

Well they're making a emulator for a SWG server so it might be eventually back in the game).

A for shopkeeping games...

Pizza Sindicate 1 and 2
Run a pizza restaurant (or more).

Last Call
Serve drinks at a bar (you being the bartender).

The Guild
Run one of the many possible buisnesses in a ye olde european setting.

I can second the recommendations of Guild(preferably Guild 2 renaissance).

Pizza syndicate was great but if you don't own the manual you will be at a huge disadvantage since you need it for the pizza recipe's

Here is a game in which you play as a minotaur who runs his own china shop.

Best. Game. Ever. Except for Jetpack Brontosaurus.

I once played a game wherby you ran a factory, whilst you want recomendations i have no idea what this game was called but it was quite in depth.

Maybe if i list what was involved someone could remeber its name as im sure I would have only discovered the game on these very forums.

( and no its not capitalism 2 )

1. picked a site for your factory.
2. bought equipment based on your choice of industry sawmill etc etc
3. hired staff including sales reps, factory workers, engineers to fix broken converyor belts etc.
4. a forklift would move things around after you produced somthing.
5. it looked like an old windows 98 game but worked on modern PCs.

Like i said no idea what it was called but it was kinda fun, and i would actually like to see a game like this seriously considered but indie is realy the only place you would find them.

Crap im getting a headache from trying to remeber its name.

I already played the guild (both), also I don't have a DS but harvest moon and rune factory are kind of what I'm looking for, except for computer. I think I'm just gonna play pizza tycoon again  ;D

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?
