I was raised to not curse when I talk or get angry. Ironically, when bullying against me got especially bad, I was then given permission to do so in self-defense, only for me to not do so. In it's own right, it makes me feel better in several ways.

I'm the bigger person for not responding to attacks how the attackers wanted, my creativity in my zingers is better, and therefore, I don't require cursing in my vocabulary for my retorts to sting or bring a smile to the offending party, and all in all, I just happen to be more easy-going in public.

In general, I don't give much a fuck about cursing, unless it would add to a statement. I'm more frequently a precision F-striker. An extremely rare occurrence to witness me curse (in person), but when I do, you know something is wrong, or I have statement that would be several magnitudes better from said precision F-strike.

I still sorta wish more people had self-control, or at least, self-moderation regarding cursing. If used casually, it's just vulgar; if it takes up a majority of your vocabulary, then it's just stupid. If it IS your vocabulary... that's something else.

Self-censorship is still excercising your freedom of speech, which is the whole point of opposing government censorship. The idea is that should be able to say whatever the fuck you want, whenever you like, without being served a fine or arrested or have your toungue cut out by the authorities/ vindicative mob. Offending people or not is irrelevant to the point.

I don't swear much in normal conversation which doesn't generally warrant it, but I do like to use profanity to reinforce a point or place some strong on emphasis on whatever idea I want to place particular stress upon. Profanity is classy as fuck if used properly. Anyways, I always liked the FCC-friendly "shut the front door!" and "back the truck up!" substitutes for the real thing if I'm not actually seriously telling somebody to go fuck themselves.

As such I am putting up an anti-self censorship protest thread. Express your freedom to be foul mouthed as you damn well please while you still can bitches!

I expect this thread to get closed for being tasteless and crude. But we'll fucking deserve it.

I don't like to curse at all, but when I'm angry or depressed, I will use extra helpings of uncensored potty phrases just to vent out steam.

That said, censoring is the way to go for me; it's part of my habit after all.

I swear a lot online, probably due to the influence of playing Mafia on here, and also when I'm working on a particularly hard problem set for mathematics.  It gives the part of my brain reserved for "I'm screwed, I can't do this, I'm dead" streams of nonsense something that it can do without my needing to actually pay any attention to it.  When my mouth is working to process things as well as my internal systems, everything works a lot better.  As may be surprising to everyone else here, I hardly ever swear or pour out the streams of vitriol I do here in real life.  I'm often asked if I'll be offended if someone else curses.

So no, it's not about self-expression, it's about getting the verbal part of my brain to shut up and go do something else as necessary.

When referring to politicians, I often use such colourful language as 'motherfucking cuntbag fuckwits,' because little else adequately describes the stupidity of the vast majority of these people~
Also, it's fun watching prudes and other easily offended people flip their shit when you yell out vulgarities~
