Given that we're at the "still collecting money from backer payements" stage (no, really, the $500 pledge came in late last night) I'm pretty sure we can find some kind of accommodations via PayPal.

I'll fire off an email here in a few minutes to the group regarding it.

If it's still available I would've been going for the $58 version (I'm in Canada).
Frankly, this sounds amazing on every level.

I'll let you know when they're available and how to get one.
We're probably going to be doing a 1000-unit print run, and have about 700-and-some to send out for the Kickstarter, so we'll have leftovers to sell.

Enjoy!

...and now I have to make my printer work so I can print out my own copy for a con in two weeks.  I am not looking forward to making a new acquaintance with my scissors...

Ha, no.  We're barely into the "negotiate with middle men" phase.
Also I believe there's still a fair amount of art to get drawn.

So I had this brilliant idea to dress up as Reginald for the Philly Geek Awards (did not win).  With slightly less than 3 weeks before the ceremony I went looking (albeit not very hard) for anyone who would be able to do up a head and hands in time and not for exorbitant cost.  My mom said, "I know a guy" (or rather, a gal) who offered to do the outfit for $150 plus any extra materials she had to buy.  "Deal!" I said.  The rented tux was another $200, which I'd have had to get anyway for the black tie dress code.*  I also had a camelback full of vitamin water to stay cool and hydrated hidden underneath the jacket; drank about two liters and sweated all of it out, despite the air-conditioned venue.

The result was fantastic.  Also, I look damn fine in a vest.

Now, for pictures:

Photobot 3000: Pic 1 Pic 2
JR Blackwell's photos (JR would be the dashing gal to my left in Photobot's second picture, and partner in crime)
Philly.com (regional newspaper's online presence).

A total of about 14 other people had their pictures taken with me (two were too shy to ask, but they looked like they wanted a photo, so I spoke up), along with all of the other cameras, still and video, plus one fellow with Google Glass, though I haven't seen any of those pictures show up online yet.  Video will likely take a while to edit before showing up.

Had a blast, even if V!C! didn't win and I was sweating like a pig.

*Almost no one showed up in actual black tie.  Most of the guys were dressed in suits with strait ties, so even with a giant foam head, this put me in the top 20% for adhering to intended dress standards.  Although I did have a vest and not a cummerbund and was wearing my sneakers (which was an accident of not-having-retrieved-them-from-my-car before emptying my pockets on JR's coffee table in preparation of leaving).  I don't think anyone noticed.
