Clusters of rock without [...all_stone] gems?
« on: January 29, 2012, 05:33:07 am »

Okay, this is embarassing.
...
I'm modding in several new stones and gems.
-Two stones form large clusters ([ENVIRONMENT:ALL_STONE:CLUSTER:x])
-The other stones and gems form small clusters inside the first two ([ENVIRONMENT_SPEC:<rockname>:CLUSTER_SMALL:y])

However, when I thought I was finished and genned a world to test it out, well... the big clusters are full of small clusters of completely unrelated generic gems (the ones that have [ENVIRONMENT:ALL_STONE:CLUSTER_SMALL:x]). Some of my own gems don't even appear.

Is there any way to fix this?

The only solution I could think of is to go through the original inorganic_stone_gem raw file and replace each environmental token that sets a layer type for the gem to appear in with a set of tokens for each stone of this layer, so that if won't appear in my stone clusters.

In case of [...ALL_STONE...], that'll be dozens of tokens for each gem.

Oh well. Here's to hoping my ctrl, c and v keys don't break.

..and that didn't work. :/
The only thing I can think of now is to make a new layer-stone to contain the two large-cluster stones.

Created a new stone to make layers of in all layer types.

Also adjusted the stone_mineral raws the same way as the gems.
Aaand... THE LAYERS OF NEW STONE ARE ALMOST EMPTY.

what am i doing wrong :/

The only thing that I can think of is that there simply aren't enough new stones types to fill up your new layers. Either that or you could try turning down mineral scarcity and see if that solves your problem. Other then that I can't see anything though. Keep in mind that the :100] on the environment tokens is not a percentage chance, rather it is a weighting for the chance that a stone will end up in a particular location (so if you had two 100 stones in the same environment then each would have a 50/50 chance of being picked).

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
