Starting anvil
« on: January 29, 2012, 02:04:27 am »

The game starts me out with a steel anvil to begin with, and I cannot swap it with an iron anvil (under the n menu there is just that one anvil). This is costing me a full 200 points more than an iron anvil would. How can I start with an iron anvil?

Your civ has no access to iron. You can try embarking again from a different civilization and see if they have any.

Do you mean create a new world?

He means abandon the fortress, and then when selecting a place to embark choose a different civilization to embark as.

There may be other dwarven civilisations on that world. Abort the game and try it with a another civilisation. Hitting tab at the map stage of the embark process should will you the other dwarven civs.

you can also try to not embark with an anvil and trade one. I never embark with one, and do not feel pain, because I trade for one pretty early on.
You can make a sh*tload of mugs before your first caravan...

Personally 99% of the time I've had dwarven caravans bring anvils, regardless of whether or not I have one at the moment.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

mostly I have to much booze(if that is possible in any way) based on plump helmets. I know you should be differentiating between several sorts, and I do this, after a year or so, when I plant cave wheat.
