((And the parasite spreads orally? By bite? This means the saliva? Sorry if I'm going for specifics, but I can't clearly get the thing on zombies))
The parasite spreads through oral attack (biting), which is randomly determined during combat. Yes, the larva technically hangs out in your saliva, but whatever.
Animals, while were on zombie mechanics, are also possible to infect, though you have less control and they still have to live.

July 4th, 1 P.M.
Ever since the attack, the detective was never the same. He swore he could hear something, calling out to him, telling him to eat. He resisted, of course, but slowly his days got weirder. He talked to a psychiatrist, a fellow member of the police, which didn’t help out at all. He started to pace more, he always seemed stressed, and here was nothing to relieve it. Then, two days ago, some man came in claiming he was from the government!
The man asked him many questions. How was you attacker acting, how did he attack, how did he… he couldn’t remember the questions! It annoyed him, hearing house questions. The man said that there was still a mystery behind the attacks, but he knew better than that! Madman, attacking random people in the streets, shot dead, the end of it! He was frustrated at the growing headache which came with thinking over the situation. He saw only one solution: the doctor, he doctor clearly had to know something which was going on.
As he left the police building, he collapsed on the ground, due to exhaustion. He could not tell anything more than the fact he heard sirens, and then fainted.
July 4th, 9 P.M.
The man which had collapsed on the street that day had woken up. He did not remember much of what happened, all he knew that he was still angry. Not that it mattered. He stopped caring for a lot of things when he joined the force. No one knew how he felt; only that he was asleep. His thoughts then fought back an urge which was earlier fought, a thought of hunger. He resisted, and wept for it. But, as anyone who knows how life works, nature cares not for resistance, and always got its way eventually.
His mind snapped that day. Then, he was never quite the same. After all, he was member of the family now…
June 28th – July 4th; the Rest of the Family
This tale is not for a sole man, however. In the outskirts, still far from Beijing, the horde had changed. The parasites began to recognize each other, though not in an endearing way but a practical one. They had started to group up, started to be a proper horde. Now, the hunted in small groups, catching more off guard, as the “assailant” was not only just one person, but dead! Many more fell, and more got injured than before. People stopped walking the road after a bit. Then, animals were the focus. Animals, unlike humans, much more easily spotted the threat of T.A.O.H., but while most chose to run, a stray dog chose to fight.
I was a poor decision, ultimately, but it was hard for the dog to think these things though. It got injured in the fight, and wisely ran away. It was infected to, but the hunt turned up short ultimately.
However, the horde has grown impressively…
