Well, this almost was forgotten. Luckily, I had this nagging feeling I had to do something...

Every flower blooms eventually, and begins to prosper as it starts to become a field. The home, abandoned by all but its new inhabitants, began to show changes. It showed signs of decay, not in the literal sense but in losing what it was. It was no longer a house but simply a building. Yet, in its decay, grew a knew bud of life… a bud far more sinister.
The beings which now grew from this building were not at all like the old inhabitants. They “slept”, though this was the response to the body but to the creature inside. They still saw, they still acted, though they acted out only the actions a man paralyzed; they did not move, and their only action was to the sounds around them, as a glance or a stare. It was night when they arose, and left the house to do what they had to do: hunt.
No one ever really saw them coming, those nights. When seen, it was always just one of them. They never approached in groups; they had no concept of teamwork. Few people noticed, but many were just randomly attacked. Many got away unharmed. A few, however, suffered greatly, and were bitten. Eventually, a few new members joined the hunt for this prey, and not much changed beyond that. The last one attacked however, 9 days since the new “family” was created, was not an ordinary human. He was, to put it simple, a man who investigated things, nothing more, nothing less. He worked for the police, to investigate the mysterious attacks. He suspected he would meet the mysterious attacker head on by acting on who was targeted; innocent people, at night.
June 28th
He walked by the road, listening around for someone who met the description. The problem was that victims were obviously confused by the night around them. Some say it was a man, some a child, but the attack was always some sort of lunging swipe. Whatever the case was, he was determined to stop it. Ahead, however, he saw another man up the road, walking as if injured, though he heard no signs of pain in the man’s actions. He called to the man. His call made the man stop and look up. Then, the man seemed to hurry more towards him, as a sort of desperate run. He only realized when the man got close that he was not more than an animal, and had lunged towards him.
The man got killed, but not before his teeth dug into the skin of the policeman. His corpse fell, and with that, it was over. The man went to his cell phone, called for a cleanup, and left, not knowing his eventual fate. It was noted, however, that the man seemed familiar…
Then it hit him. The man had disappeared 3 days ago, while walking from his work. The man only wondered; what does this mean?
