This is why I love DF
« on: January 28, 2012, 03:43:27 pm »

Quote from: Toady One
I visited a tomb today as the adventurer Cadem Renownletter to see how well the game retains the position of skeletons and treasures as I move them around. During the process, a mummy boxed me in the ribs, broke my finger, bit my hand and shook it around until the hand came off. The mummy then animated the hand and they both attacked me. The hand scored the killing scratch, earning the name "Drippedsieged, Cadem Renownletter's left hand" and earning the tomb an additional defender against further testing. Its middle finger is still broken.

Seriously, that right there. That is just not something you see in devlogs in other games, as a former worker for game developement companies I can tell you this truthfully.

At least he had a fair trial.

Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

Sounds like something the Witchhunters would do.

And if he dies, sir?

How much more dorfish can something get then allowing us to randomly and baselessly accuse people of being among the undead, upon which they are to be beaten until we are proved right, or they die?

Also, what does everyone plan on doing with the few vampires we actually catch by accident?

Furthermore, how likely are you to just allow the vampire to go on about their business, so long as they are still producing legendary booze, sword, and mugs?

Depending on how they behave, just let your fort become a vampire fortress?

I don't see any problem with my legendary armor crafter feeding on an occasional beekeeper or presser is all I'm saying.

I am certainly making a vempire-only military squad in the new version. They will live in a separate fortress isolated from the working dwarves, and will be unleashed to deal with invaders.
They can survive 50 hammer strikes? Oh yeah, the perfect soldiers!

THAT one did, but Vampires are a bit randomized in their abilities. You'd have to weed out the bad ones first.
