I'm not in any way trying to insinuate that your game is a rip-off. But I think the concepts are related enough that people who enjoy your game might also try dwarf fortress when hearing about it. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

Def. a good thing! The game is heavily influenced by the mechanics of DF, I think it's a great game and I'd be honored to be a gateway dru....game and let ppl know more about this gem ;)

A couple of questions: what language/libraries do you use? How big is the team? Do you have plans for an early alpha, and if so, an estimated date?
We are currently two ppl in the team, me doing the programming and a friend who does all the art (so the sweet graphics are all his work :D). We use the Unity 3D engine and I gotta say it's great! It has support for several scripting languages (we are using C#) and it can export to a crazy amount of platforms!
We are working on this on our spare time, I got 20% off from work so I can spend my Fridays coding it, but we've learned to use the framework pretty well and have gotten alot of the groundwork done, so hopefully things will move forward in a decent pace :)

Not sure about an alpha, hopefully withing the next couple of months. But that would indeed be an Alpha(!) :D I'll make sure to post a message about it on this forum when we are getting close!

A new video is up! I've added some logic for revealing new block types when digging. It's part random part based on the depth the villager is digging at.

We have started work on creating larger land masses with different types of biomes. In the screenshots below you can see an example of this. It still needs tweaking and more
types of terrain but it's a start :)

I'd suggest getting rid of the tiny minecraft deserts. Make them large, expansive ones to get lost in, with mountains and mesas and stuff.

That's just me talking. But still, I'd love to play in a large expansive desert.

I personally like large deserts, but the trick is to keep them interesting, rather than just a giant sandpit. Like DBZ said, mountains and mesas and stuff. Salt flats are pretty cool if you want to put one or two in. Great place to fill with zombies.

Okay I can just picture it now: Zombies mining salt to improve their survivability by preventing additional rotting...

That is what I was thinking. For all intensive purposes they would be mummies without the wraps.

I've always wanted to give a suggestion for a single creature when someone is making a game just so I can see it later down the line.
