2) The images are nice, and help to visualize the setting, but you only need a few to set the scene and clarify confusing bits.

As for the action:

C) Kill the ostral. Grab it by its legs, pull it over, and punch it through the skull. Then hide it nearby; we can later use our 'possess corpse' power to use it as a distraction.

EDIT: Incidentally, your navigation system is broken (hahaha mine is better)- the 'Toy Soldier' thing goes to the first post.

Knock its nasty skull in. Bring the axe along just in case it really wants some trouble.

or as a mount, if we're going to be a tiny bronze warrior wielding a ridiculously oversized sword we might as well ride a Chocobo while we're at it.  ::)

also on updates 2) Critical Images (Maps etc, plus text.) = 90% Update Speed.
sometimes maps an such helps things along.

You find yourself stuck between simply killing the bird or trying to mount it for your personal edification.   On a whim you opt for the latter decision, reasoning that you might be able to kill it afterward.

You sneak up to the ostral whilst it forages around, then leap onto its back at the last moment!  It is only then that you realise you have not the slightest idea how to tame or even ride such a beast.  You grab onto its feathers as it shrieks and wails, dancing around and flapping its wings in an effort to throw you off.  You manage to keep hold in spite of the frenzied effort, desperately trying to force your will on the creature.

The bird seems angry and afraid, so very angry and afraid.  But you know anger.  You've known anger all your existence - and until now you never knew how it felt without it.  But this summoning has given you a new perspective on that most basic fact of your existence - how to bring it, and how to take it away.

Focusing your spiritual reserves, you draw the anger out of the ostral until all that remains is its fear of you - leaving it still, unwilling to move and compliant to whatever commands you can manage to give it.  Which mostly will be nudging it in one direction or another, frankly, since you cannot directly control a living creature with an intact mind.  You could kill it and possess the corpse, but direct telepathy is not an ability your form of spirit possesses.

Will you:

a) Snap the fool bird's neck whilst its guard is down?
b) Hide the ostral away until you need it?
c) Ride it triumphantly into the fort, axe a-ready?
d) Something else?

B.) directional commands are all we really need (we can always undead it later but keeping it alive prevents decay.)

You nudge the ostral a little further into the woods.  You think you'll get the hang of riding this bird with time, but time is something you don't have right now.  Instead you 'park' the poor beast (you seem to have sucked all of the aggression out of it, to the point of being uselessly docile; you'll probably have to manually spark the creature's anger up in future, but at least it won't try to attack you) and head back to your post.

After a boring hour or so, you wait for the smell of bacon to fade.  It is a strange experience - you have some rough idea of what each of the senses you perceive are, but also that they are inherently wrong somehow, as if not meant to be filtered through such a body.  For one thing, you can far more keenly smell the iron in the wizard's sword and the gold on his rings than the bacon, strong as that smell is.

You head back into the camp.  The wizard is asleep on his bedroll, head on pillow and lying flat on top of your sword.  That must be uncomfortable.  You filter your spirit senses into play and detect that his wand is in an inside pocket of his robe, as well - which he is still wearing.  His notebooks and other provisions are in a basket on the other side of the pools of water, each presently dormant (they just provide ordinary reflection now).

How do you proceed?

Look for new minions nearby (insects, rodents, small birds)
