Dwarves removing slabs?

My problem is pretty straight-forward: I place slabs to prevent the the migrants crushed to death for being useless who have died honourably, and then a bit later my dwarves go and de-construct them and put them back inside. It's incredibly annoying but I don't know how to stop them, so can anyone help please?

Dwarves won't remove slabs without you telling them to.  Either you are designating the slabs to be deconstructed, or tantruming dwarves are destroying them, or building-destroyer animals or invader mounts or megabeasts are happening by and destroying them.

They're not being destroyed because I'm watching my dorfs go and put them back onto the furniture stockpile, nor am I designating them to be deconstructed.

Sounds like a tantrum dorf randomly destroying them, and a saner dorf putting them back into your stockpiles.

and with "destroy" it is just meant they kick it from its place
