No, they don't. They show up on the map, but don't exist when you get there.

Given that DF is an "alpha" that runs on a certain amount of community development, that's kind of a necessary part of the process. Even if the first release of DF2012 is kinda fubar, we will at least be able to see what everything looks like, and in the meantime Toady will do bugfix releases. It's all good.

The "vampires are attempting to siphon blood from chairs/a sewer was generated above the keep and is drizzling sewage onto the king's bedroom" bugs are the best kind anyway. I don't mind a period of insane bugs while Toady works on bugfix releases.

Like I said, I wouldn't mind a bugged release, but the unwashed hordes would. DF always had bugs, but they were more of the funny kind; the game got it's fame of being a bugged game outside these forums after the 2010 release. The hate from something awful forum towards Toady started during the period before that release, and increased greatly after; and some very nasty things happened in this very forum following the release.

This won't happen now, because as I said in other posts, this release won't have all the feature rewrites DF2010 had.

The bugs Toady is currently working on are of the nature that they won't be enjoyable, so crazy, silly bugs might still get in.
