I was thinking more along the lines of this legendary champion, all clad in dented and dinged up steel plate, his blood-drenched axe slung over his back, a notch in the handle for every enemy that saw the swing of that blade as the last sight they ever saw, a battered shield strapped over his arm... and a fluffy, pink stuffed hippo hidden discretely in his breastplate.

Oh my, as soon as I read the devlog I was wondering if there was a thread for Scamps' birthday, and now I find out I share a birthday with both he and Deon! :o How many Bay12ers were born on the 8th, anyhow?
But yes, Happy Birthday Scamps!

...This happy occasion has greatly lessened my agony waiting for the release. I wouldn't expect Toady to break his back coding on his cat's birthday after all! At least, not until Mr Scamps was asleep.  ;D

Anyone else not playing Dwarf Fortress until the new release?

I stopped playing 5 months ago because I wanted to try out the new stuff in the release...

I stopped playing a month ago. I'll probably wait for some bugs to be squashed when new version is released though.

I'm going to be honest: while I'm excited for the upcoming release, I have a feeling that it's going to be a lot more fun to read about, with let's plays and community forts, than explore myself. Really, I'm just waiting to see what feature creep comes out in release 2...
