Just out of curiosity- was the fanbase half this antsy before the release of DF2010?

Yeah it was quite tense. There seem to be a huge number of new players this time though, who don't really understand the development process and are making the 'hire more people' threads/posts. I don't really remember that being such an irritation last time, but it probably was.

lol yes. I remember the 2010 release...cause before hand Toady didn't seem to be updating his blog as regular..and there was a few times we were all left in suspense not hearing from him for like...upwards of almost a week at a time lol. So yeah it was pretty tense and when it came out we all hid for days and played with all the radical new changes.

Also yeah do keep in mind he did say "February seems like a safe bet now, since nothing that has come up should really be that time consuming to fix, and anything minor that comes up can be fixed after a release rather than before if it comes down to it." in the February report.

Anyway, yeah it was worse with DF2010. People (like...uh...me) were really starting to lose it

Edit: Yesterday something strange happened here btw. I was juuuust about to bump that 4 or 5 year old thread (DF 19.xx.xx released), but couldn't quite pull the trigger yet hehe. You know, the one which gets semi-annual bumped to the top before a release. The only "DF released"-thread in General Discussion. A funny thread btw. Anyway, someone important must have seen this, because the thread is gone now

It's not looking good. I don't know how long the others can hold out. A tantrum spiral seems inevitable, and it's a miracle we've held out this long. We're trying to move the newest migrants to safety to wait out the coming storm, but I think the others are onto us. Armok save us.

i dont use f5. Instead, the path between my previous page shortcut and the refresh is all white due to mouse pathing....

Yesterday there was no update, and I expected that to be the silence before the release. While sending a post to the forum, the page suddenly slowed down drastically...

Heart racing and without drawing a breath I immediately rushed to the front page, but no release yet...
